About Us
There are four departments within the Fırat University Faculty of Sports Sciences: Physical Education and Sports Teaching, Sports Management Department, Coach Education Department and Recreation Education Department. The education-training period in our faculty is 8 semesters in all departments. The language of instruction is Turkish. In addition to the first-term program in the Physical Education and Sports Teaching and Sports Management Departments, as of the 2009-2011 academic year, the Sports Management Department second-term program and the Coach Education Department first and second-term programs were opened and student recruitment began. As of the 2011-2012 academic year, student recruitment to the Sports Management Department began with the Central Placement Exam and continues until today.
As of 2025, there are 5 Professors, 2 Associate Professors and 1 Research Assistant in the academic staff of the Sports Management Department. Our department serves as one of the most equipped sports education institutions in the region with both its infrastructure and trained academic staff.
Purpose of the Department
In addition to training educators, managers, and experts in the field of sports, sports practices are needed for the society to remain healthy. Meeting this need is possible with educated human resources who know sports education and are trained in this field. The Department of Sports Management aims to train qualified personnel to be employed in sports industry, national and international sports organizations, sports clubs, relevant federations, public and private sector institutions, schools or universities within the scope of the implementation of sports policies.

-To be able to have information about the central and provincial organizations related to sports
-To have experience in organizing and realizing sports organizations
-To be able to plan and manage studies for the professional development of individuals and groups in the field
-To be able to use information technologies in accordance with sports sciences
-To be able to produce national or international projects in the field of sports sciences
-To be able to train managers for sports clubs in our country
Employment Opportunities of the Department
Students who graduate from the Sports Management Department work as permanent or contracted sports education specialists in the central organization of the Ministry of Youth and Sports or in the Provincial or District Directorates of Youth and Sports affiliated to the Ministry. They can also work in sports clubs in amateur or professional leagues or in private sports organizations.
